Village Library
Tirelli, Dogon Country, Mali (2010)

This project was produced and lead by Scott Howard. The library is a gift to the village of Tirelli, Mali, and the project employed several local people during construction. This is the most technical structure completed by Scott to date. A two week-long workshop completed the majority of the structure. The building is almost entirely made of earth. It is a catenary arc, reaching nearly 17 feet in height. Serving as a library for many villages in the area, it is the first earthbag dome in Mali.
